I need feminism because 99% of women in video games are seen as “damsels in distress”.
I need feminism because I shouldn’t have to defend my reasons for idolizing Princess Zelda, Chell, The Boss, and the rest of the kickass ladies of video games.
I need feminism because only one of those characters is the main character of their game.
I need feminism because when I play a video game, I don’t want a scantily clad, ridonkulously proportioned, and extremely sexist woman to be my only playable option.
I need feminism because I want a game where Zelda saves Link from Ganon.
I need feminism because I should be able to see myself represented in the medium that I adore the most.
I need feminism because I should be able to cosplay whatever character I damn well please, and my worth not be dependent on how little she wears.
I need feminism because I shouldn’t be seen as a “stupid girl” because I find one of the male characters attractive, when 99% of female characters are only there for that reason.
I need feminism because I’m a gamer, and I shouldn’t be seen as an attention whore when I wear a shirt that promotes that.
I need feminism because I demand more games with strong, wonderful female protagonists, who aren’t dependent on men.
